Sales and Reservation Policy
Registration
Our Nigerian Dwarf goats are registered with American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) and American Goat Society (AGS)
Doe and buck kids will be registered online with ADGA and/or AGS at our expense.
Registered does and bucks will be sold with their properly filled out transfers for both ADGA and AGS. Papers and transfers will be handed over at time of pickup after full payment is received. It is the buyer's responsibility to complete the transfer by mailing in their papers and paying the associated fees.
Kids will be tattooed before pick up
We want to see our goats in performance homes! Please let us know if you already participate in performance programs.
Reservations
Reservations will be taken at our discretion. Reservation and waitlists will be honored after we have determined which kids we will be retaining.
Once your reservation is confirmed, a non-refundable 20% deposit is due at this time to remove your goat from availability and to hold your goat until pick up.
Until a deposit is received, the goat will be considered available to other buyers.
At this time we accept payment through PayPal: https://paypal.me/duckwaterranch or Cash with the balance of payment due at pick up or before goats leave on transport.
Livestock will not leave without full payment.
Deposits are non-refundable except in the unlikely event that your reserved kid dies. If this were to happen your deposit could be transferred to another un-reserved kid of your choice or to reserve a kid from a future breeding.
Goats are herd animals. Single kids will only be sold to homes already with goats.
Moving is stressful and we highly recommend purchasing kids in pairs so they have a familiar buddy while adjusting to their new home.
Management
We do not administer the CDT vaccine to our herd.
We conduct annual bio-security testing for CAE, CL, Johnes and Q-Fever and work hard to maintain a clean tested herd. These diseases have the potential to negatively impact goat and human health and can be carried without obvious symptoms. Annual testing and biosecurity practices are an import part of our herd management.
Our kids are mainly dam raised unless otherwise stated. Kids are taught to take a bottle/drink from a lamb-bar for DHI test days. If buyer is comfortable bottle feeding, kids can leave before 10 weeks of age.
Weaning - my experience has led me to not wean kids before 10 weeks of age. Kids will be begin weaning at 10 weeks and be ready to leave for their new home by 12 weeks old.
Wethers will be banded before leaving, we will band as early as 6 weeks.
All horned kids are disbudded within 2 weeks of birth.
If the buyer wants horns we MUST know when the kid is born and we MUST receive full payment with in one week of the kids birth before the kid will be left horned.
The only other time a kid may be left horned will be due to health considerations during the time window for disbudding. The overall health of our animals is our 1st priority!
Does in milk will be able to leave to their new home after one of the below conditions are met:
The doe's kids are solid on bottle/lamb-bar for daily milk
The doe's kids are fully weaned
The doe and kids are purchased together
We ensure that all our goats are healthy and have received proper care before leaving for their new home, we hope that they receive the same care in their new herd. We make no guarantees regarding future health after the animal is out of our care.
Transportation & Pick Up Arrangements
Buyer is responsible for arranging transport.
Pick up/Transport arrangements must be made before kids reach 12 weeks of age or the agreed upon pick up date.
Adult goats and weaned kids (over 12 weeks of age) must be picked up within 7 days of placing a deposit.
If pickup or transport does not occur within the timelines stated above, a boarding fee of $10 per day, until the arranged pick up day, will apply and must be paid in advance of the agreed upon boarding period. Boarding is solely at the discretion of Duckwater Ranch.
We are willing to work with transport and will meet transporter at the nearest Interstate or Highway junction.
We will deliver to locations between 12 and 50 miles away for a $50 fee. Any distance over 50 miles is an additional $0.73 per mile up to 30 additional miles.
Out of state buyers are responsible for obtaining health certificates and associated fees.
We are not responsible for any injuries or illnesses an animal may acquire during or after transit. As stated above; moving is stressful and we recommend having basic immune system supporting supplements and medicines on hand to provide care if needed.
First Right of Refusal
If in the future you decide to sell your Duckwater goat, we request the first right of refusal at fair market value.
Placing a deposit or purchasing an animal from Duckwater Ranch indicates acceptance of these sales terms.
